Click or Dbl Click When shifting from 1st to 2nd Gear???

Hello… I just bought a 2003 Mini Cooper S with 34,000 miles on it. I’ve noticed a small click when shifting from 1st gear to 2nd. Sometime it is a double click. One click out of first and one click going into 2nd. Sound like the Gear Box or transmission or some thing. It occurs with my foot off the clutch, there is no sound from the clutch engaging or disengaging. This sound would not even be noticed in noisy traffic or if the radio was on, but you definitely hear it with the windows down and the radio off. It doesn’t feel wrong it just sounds a little scary. I’ve always driven manual and this is something I’ve never really noticed. I’ve noticed that it almost always happens when I shift at or above 3k rpms. It does happen below 3k rpms but not as much. Should I be concerned or is this at all common to MCS. Thanks, Stun

If you don't mind schooling me… How come it only happens sometimes and not all the time? What RPM would you recommend shifting from 1st to 2nd in the MCS? Thanks a bunch for the help.

Wow, shifting @ 3K? I am usually shifting around 4-5K, no wonder I have never heard it.

as posted above, i think you're just hearing your gearbox change gears.

mines a bit noisy too... but it was like that from the getgo and everyone
has it. 1-2 shift on my 03 is around 4k rpm in normal traffic.

Thanks for the help... my warranty expires at the end of this year so maybe I'm just being too careful. Like I said other than that small noise it drives great. So quick and responsive, I love it...
