Alignment needed or not?

Question to owners who have their strut mount replaced under warranty, did you also get an alignment done?

I was told by a service department rep that an alignment is not needed (and covered) although the whole strut is removed.

I always thought that alignment is always needed whenever suspension component is removed. Could someone please confirm? Thanks a bunch.

Certain suspension parts are non adjustable.

The shocks are not adjustable.

Only thing is if front toe is affected by the part change then that would be of concern. You want the toe setting to be the same on each side and within factory specs.

It isn't that expensive to do an alignment for the MINI.

If you did a front or rear swaybar replacement you won't need an alignment.
If you adjusted ride height or camber then I'd suggest doing an alignment although some owners report that they do OK.

How does the MINI handle? Any indication that it is not aligned? Pulls hard to one side or rough riding?

Thanks for the advise. I was actually referring to replacement of the strut top mount, no other modification involved. I believe the dealer will only need to remove the strut, replace the part, then put it back.

My current ride is fine, it does wanders a bit on grooved surface.

OK, if only strut top mount then usually no alignment needed.

Wandering on grooved highways is tramlining and common with runflats and some tread designs.
