alta panel filter fit

I tried searching but couldn't find anything pertaining this question. I just installed an alta panel filter on my '06 Cooper S. When I closed the airbox after putting the foam filter in, I noticed there was a three millimiter gap between the upper and lower housing of the box.

I made the sure the rear tabs were in properly and the front screws were tight. The airbox looks and feels sealed, but I just wanted to make sure this is the way it's supposed to fit.

I didn't notice the way the box fit together before taking it apart.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks,

i don't have the drop-in so i don't now for sure... but
if it bothers you, i would tape the 'gap' over with some e-tape.

same here

I have the Alta panel filter now, though the K&N filter fits the same way. Both seem to seal just fine.
