Idel Vibrations

Hi, thanks for the reply

I don't believe so, I have not changed anything on the car, everything is original, perhaps it is the age of the car? The dealer checked all the mounts, and exhaust hangers but could not or would not find anything wrong enough to replace anything... I test drove other cooper S automatic same year and they did not have the same vibrations coming into the seats.... reving the engine at 2100 rpm did not cause vibrations like my car does.

I'll probably have to live with it or drive in sport drive all the time to avoid low RPM driving...

vibration source - vilolent exhaust at 2100 RPM

I had a friend rev my engine while in park at exactly 2100 rpm when the vibrations are the loudest, I checked the exhaust tips by lightly touching the exhaust and at that RPM the exhaust is vibrating fiercely obviously enough to vibrate the entire interior of the car including my seat.

When I felt the top of the supercharger in the engine I could not tell a big difference from the engine itself.

Any thoughts?

The top of the engine is like being ion the stearn of a sail boat. It will be the most stable - The bottom will move and the exhaust - the longest single piece atached to the engine. SO.......

If this car has an after market exhaust, look for a boched, missing or missaligned hanger........

vibrations - not normal?

7.8 lt/100 KM or 30 miles per gallon is what I got from a weekend trip, but with heavy humming vibrations, how can I tell if it's the engine bearings worn out ?

low frequency humming/vibrations under car

I just got my car back from the dealer, got a new engine mount (passenger side), and they found the leak was oil pan gasket, that got replaced.

Is it possible to have a super charger intake leak and not have the ECL light come on?

Can a problematic transmission cause vibrations when accelerating or driving low RPMs? I have an S automatic and transmission shifts very smooth, but on low RPM, Just over 2K RPM I get humming and vibrations.

engine has new passenger side mount and it only helped marginally with the vibrations, trying to increase speed from 2K RPM causes heavy vibrations and is usually slow moving, sometimes I have to manually shift to the next lowest gear to get going.
