Costco buys gas from local sources at lower prices- this may vary from region to region.

Top tier gas in my area is Chevron and Shell with additives.

I have never found a noticable performance difference using costco vs top tier gas in my MCS for street or performance driving.

Most of the time I use Costco premium gas. Seems ok to me.

Avoid gas stations for 24 hrs?

I am a consultant who has several gas stations as clients. Every one of my stations gets at least 1 delivery per day. Sometimes they will get 2 deliveries per day. They are in So California so your mileage may differ.

I live in the boonies, so volume is much less usually. There is a sation by me I'll see a truck once a week and another one gets it twice a week. But as I said its catch 22, higher volume stations like yours also won't be prone to as much junk on the bottom of the tank as it is constantly being emptied and refilled.

Never had a problem with their premium (93 octane). Costco sells premium for the price of plus (89 octane) at other stations in my area.

So eventually, the sediment issue would be null and void. That sediment gets in there by gas sitting for long periods and any "imperfections" in the gas go to the bottom becoming sediment. So if a place like Costco is going thru a tanker truck worth of gas a day, then there should be no sediment buildup to be stirred up. Right?

Sounds good. I think it's gonna be worth the costco membership as there's one a couple miles from my house or easy biweekly fill-ups. Save some money too!

Pretty much, its more a concern for stations that don't fill up often; thats why I have High turn over stations fist on the list.

Besides are you running race gas?

Don't forget you also need an AMEX card to buy gas there. I also noticed I could still buy gas even when my Costco card was expired, so a current membership may not be required if you just want to try it to see if it pings in your car.

My car pings at part throttle under load when using premium Chevron and 76, but not with the cheapest 92 Arco or Safeway gas--go figure. It's a big YMMV so I'd suggest trying them all, to see what works in your car.

The additive in Chevron premium is techron, which is the same stuff in the BMW labeled fuel additive. I would recommend putting a bottle of it in your tank about every 3 months or so. I don't know if Costco sells it, I know Walmart does. This stuff cleaned the system on a car I had sitting for 10 years.
I would not hesitate to use Costco gas. I use Sam's Club when I can

picked up a costco membership today... just in time too - gas prices are getting OUT OF CONTROL around here! $3.40 for premium!

The costco is about a 10 minute drive from my house on back roads, so that's pretty convenient. They sell 87 and 92 octane, and it was roughly $0.30 cheaper than everywhere else.

I put in a tank of 87 in my cavalier - so good so far (not like the type of gas makes any difference in my '90 cavalier! )

Thanks everybody!
