So I'm not the only one! I was beginning to call myself butterfingers or somethin.

One day I'll find the bunch of stuff I've dropped into the MINI engine bay abyss. The best tool so far for removing said lost items? My 7-year old. Her hands are just the right size!

I just have to say, I really enjoyed this picture you made. It's so true and it's happened to a lot of us at one point or another. Sorry to hear you haven't been able to find the bolt yet. frustrating

Many times, the part will fall into the fan housing. If you suspect this, you'll need to reach up from underneith and feel inside the fan shroud...obviously when the motor's cold

I did this before, when installing my CAI. I dropped a bolt in the black hole. After everything else had failed to recover my bolt I got in the car and started it up, put it in reverse and floored it then slammed on the brakes. I got out and checked for a bolt on the ground. Then 1st, floored it and slammed on the braked, checked again. With each run getting faster and harder on the brakes the madder I got. I'm sure my neighbors think I'm crazy, but after the 5th or so try I finally found what I was after. Not the cleanest way, but it worked : thumbsup: -- Johan

I know what you mean about the neighbors.
Kinda freaky watching a car fly out of a garage backwards doing 40.
Eventually they all joined in the search. LOL Even little kids were clappin while I was smoking the tires

Years Ago, A Three Year Old Little Sister Worked With A Promise Of 31flavors Ice Cream. She Found The Bolt In The Bottom Of The Transmission, Yes With Gear Oil. Cost Me A Triple Scooop, Worth Every Scoop. Btw, She's In Hermid 30's Now. Lol
