Fuel Filter change... any how-tos?

I just ordered a rack of parts for my car and a fuel filter is one of them.

I have searched on this forum and another and can't find a how-to for this.

Does anyone know where I can find one? Or is it that easy?

Thanks

I haven't heard of anyone replacing theirs. I haven't worried too much about it. What I do know is that the fuel filter is a "lifetime" part (like the tranny fluid ). It is built into the fuel sender in the tank. You have to remove the rear seats to get to the unit.

Its a lifetime part? Dammit and I ordered one thinking I was doing some preventative maintenance. Oh well...

Can JUST the fuel filter be ordered and not the whole sensor unit? I always thought it was a whole unit costing like $300 or so. Pretty much all manufacturers are doing the life time filter thing and integrate it into their fuel pump/sender unit. If you can replace just the filter do it! It's a good thing to do.

The whole sender unit is about $120.00 at MINI North Scottsdale. The filter and replacement o-rings are $36. I just ordered the filter instead of the whole right side canister assembly.

The left side contains the fuel pump and fuel level sender unit. (cost below 300)

Yes, two level sensors. They're averaged together to display on the fuel guage.

Looked at the fuel filter canister yesterday and it is a chore to get it open to expose the filter. I couldn't figure out how to get the whole canister outta the tank due to two pesky lines that attach to it...I felt like I would break the hoses if I pulled any harder.
