The "it cant be its too cheap on ebay" thread

So most cars ive owned (240sx, datsun 510 etc etc) have all had their amazing cheap toys on ebay much like they have had their disaster stories from ebay.
Post ANYTHING you bought for your mini on ebay and a small review and maybe if possible the vendor who sold it to you. Most of the time its all GARBAGE and just proves to most people how cheap ebay parts are. But hey lets get this going.

I purchased a MINI "pit crew" shirt
Really inexpensive for a nice shirt and real embroidered patches.
LOVE IT

Also purchased the door plugs... yes those were expensive for what they are BUT maybe I am jelous that I didn't think of it.

Dust caps for the shock towers
same as above

Mini Wallet GREAT BUY

i bought a "as new" set of 15" holies with original continental tires for $250 on ebay. the tires had 40 or so miles on them. they were taken off for new rims and the guy just wanted to get rid of them. he fortunately lived about an hour away from me so i just drove out to him to pick them up one sunday and they've been my winter wheels for 2 winters now. same tires too by the way.

I get lots from ebay. Recently I got a new MOMO shift **** half price at ltbmotorsports, an authorized MOMO dealer that sells the same stuff from their website on ebay for much cheaper.

I just got a ebrake handle too. There is so much random stuff for MINIs on ebay at good prices, a lot of it you cant get from vendors or its cheaper on ebay. Some things are definately cheapest on ebay, like MOMO products.

I did have 2 negative ebay experiences. The first turned out good though, I ordered diamond plate floor mats and only received half of the shipment, the seller eventually gave me a full refund and I got to keep the front 2 floor mats. The second I won an auction for JL Audio stealthbox, amp, aux cable, car cover, and center console organizer, all for $100. And of course the girl changed her mind when it only sold for $100, probably alot less than she was hoping. I actually didnt blame her too much, I would have been pissed too but then again I wouldt have started the auction so low with no reserve.

I am really curious about the knock-off body kits. They have the Orciari and Carzone kits for like $500! They look good in the pics, but that could be the actual Orciari and Carzone kits in the pics. Or the knock-offs could be just as good quality, you never know. I'm real curious and wish someone knew.

As a experiment I bought one of those 15$ B&M knock off Short Shifters. Well from 5 ft away it looks like one but once you look at it up close you can see the problem. The piece looks like a pot metal casting. The tip on the end is very porus and that is the last place you want to have weakness. Sometimes you get exactly what you pay for.

I bought a new alta gauge pod from a user on ebay for $90! I also got a rear strut brace for $40, ebrake handle from RSpeed. There are some things that I would buy on the bay and then there are things I would not. I.e. I would rather buy a pulley and some other engine mods from a vender here on NAM or the company itself to ensure quality and void fakes!

05 SC with under 50 miles

for $310 shipped. Happy with that.
Used alta end-link set (all four corners) for $155 shipped, sloppy spherical bushings, not too happy.

I'm very curious about the cheap (like $30-$40) rear sway bars, and strut tower braces on Ebay. Anybody have any experience with them?

E-bay can be really hit or miss depending who you are dealing with. There are legit sellers, con artists, and idiots. I'm dealing with an idiot now on a part I bought for another vehicle.

As a rule of thumb, I never spend more for an item on e-bay than I can afford to lose.

My rule is only buy items that are definately name brand (not knockoffs) when it comes to performance, and cosmetic items, well I just cross my fingers and use common sense. You can often tell alot from good pictures, and if you have doubt beware, or if the pic is bad or not detailed beware.
