Wiper arm removal
Wiper arm removal
Ugh. I'm having a stripe installed on my car tomorrow and the installer wanted me to remove the windshield wiper arm. I said no problem. Dummy me.
I went out tonight to make sure I carry the right tools to remove the arm when I get to his shop and just realized it's not as easy as removing the nut. So I searched in my Bentley manual and it says I need the BMW puller # 61 2 100. Looking through my assorted junk pile I call a tool box and obviously I don't have that tool.
Anyone have an idea of what this looks like or something that may work to pull the arm free of the bolt? Thanks. I knew I should have checked earlier but who would have thought removing a wiper arm would call for more than a wrench.
I couldn't find the just above and behind the bonnet forum so I posted here.

paraphrasing what's in the Haynes
1. With wipers in parked position, mark their positions against glass with tape or crayon (for re-install alignment)
2. Lift the plastic cap from the bottom of the arm and loosen the nut one or two turns
3. Lift the wiper arm, and release it from the taper on the spindle by moving from side to side. The wiper is pressed on to the spindle and may be difficult to remove requiring use of a 'puller'.... a small pulley puller. One the arm is free of the spindle, remove the nut and the arm.

Okay, I got it loose! The side-to-side method did work...eventually.
I just wanted to reposition my right-side wiper arm up an inch, or so, so that the right wiper's sweep could meet the left wiper's sweep at the top of the windshield. This to eliminate the small V-pattern at the top of the windshield...from the sweeps not meeting...that would accumulate crud which would drip down the windshield right into your line of sight. I'm assuming all MINIs do this, as my wiper arms had never been touched since new. Either way, it was one of those little things that drove me nuts, and now it's cured.
