Nothing that I wear is fluffy. Nothing.

Now that that's clear , I'll still work with you on the "rubbing against you" bit.

The solution would be to somehow ground yourself. Such as getting a simple grounding strap from an electronic workbench (like $4 @ radioshack), and ground yourself to a metal part of the car... Maybe the shifter? Grounding straps usually have break-aways...
While I have one of these for the tech work I do, and it is a legitimate suggestion, I don't see me "strapping" myself in every time. :impatient

And one last thing. Touching someone else may discharge it too... And probably make you feel better about the whole thing as well.
Ahhh, my favorite! If only I motored WITH someone more often. I typically commute solo. (I'd love to find a carpool mate or 2 - but my journey is an atypical one at best.)

Thanks for the thoughts... I will probably just use a different part of my hand to touch the door with.

I'm shocked and dismayed by the contents of this thread. No on second thought, y'all are shocked. I've never had a problem but I have three things going for me:

1) Leather seats
2) Rubber Floor mats
3) an a member of the undead, my kind generates no static electricity.

I was never shocked in my MC with leather seats and carpet, but always in my MCS with leather seats and diamond plate.

I had the same issue as you. Some of the jolts were extremely shocking (sounded as if someone had shot a cap gun off...). I recently toned down the voltage to maybe 1/10th of the shockness that was there previously by installing the Mini rubber floor mats. Hope this helps.

I'm a cloth seat MCS

Insulation in jackets is fluffy. Cloth seating uses woven fibers which can get fluffy over time. The hair on your head is fluffy...
