05 Flywheel Problems
05 Flywheel Problems
I heard a low vibration while idling, I looked under the hood and noticed the mushroomed strutmount and broken bushing (an entirely different thread).. that was fixed and the mechanic noticed the vibration was still there... they tell me it is the flywheel and have seen a few 05's with that problem... anyone else heard about this?

I have an 03 MCS. I complained about slop in drivetrain. They diagnosed it as bad flywheel (approx. 30,000 mi.), It was replaced. The tech showed me a paper indicating that the flywheel (repl. about 2 mo. ago) was "improved". The replacement really made no noticeable difference so far as I was concerned. I think slop in drivetrain must be gear lash in transm., slop in CV joints or or soft mounts. Don't know what.
Message is that the flywheel has been revised but I don;t know how.
I took opportunity to pay for new clutch, though. since that cost was parts only. They did not sell ltd. slop alone, is only part of transmission, so I could not get ltd. slip in.

had that in my Nov 04 build w/ 900 miles on it at the time. Called MINI of Peabody w/ the symptoms and teh SA on the phone said it's the flywheel and to bring it in for a new flywheel & clutch... all under warranty
No problems since then, and thier reaction leads me to belive it is a known issue on the '05s
