Removing '05/'06 dash anyone?

Anybody done it?

I know the '02-'04 procedure, but understand that the '05 is different (due to the airbag?) and is supposed to take a little longer. I haven't tried it yet on the '05 but would like to gather some more info before I dig in (and know how much time I need).

Thanks

Derek in pursuit of the typical dash rattle...

its all grab and pull, no screws except for two on the top of the center, just like the early ones had.

you need to take the tach off to get the driver side piece off, same as the early ones.

there are more than jsut 2 screws. there are the two T20 screws in the center vent. there are 4 T30 screws in the vent looking part (2 on each end) there are 4 T20 screws on each end of the dash behind the trim. then there are 2 T30 screws that hold the air bag straps onto the car. the only real diffrence is that the front dash pad doesn't come off seperatly from the rest of the dash like the old style. and there is an upper and lower part of the dash which means the glove box and all that doesn't have to come out but the tach does have to come off. oh and be real careful in not to rip the pins out of the light sensor in the front center of the dash.

thats for an 02-04, the 05s only have two screws holding it in, they rest are trim clips now.

Well seems like there is differing opinion! Note that my '05 is an early '05 (as known by the lack of the low washer fluid light and no passenger airbag thingy on the headliner...). So maybe the different responses mean it might have changed for later '05/'06's? (my bad)

Nonetheless, since I have the "luxury" of owning both an '03 and an '05 right now (Please buy it someone!), I see now that the '05 has a one piece dash where the '03 was two. Looking through the windshield from outside I also see the four T30 screws in the defrost vent (I'll look for the two in the top center vent later). I'll take y'alls word on the T30's at the airbag straps.

So, thanks for all the help - although there are a few more screws than the '03, still looks like a no-brainer.

Thanks

Derek
