Service engine soon light code p2270
Service engine soon light code p2270
I keep throwing a fault code P2270. I cannot relate it to any particular situation or condition but it is continual. P2270 decodes as O2 Sensor Signal stuck lean - bank 1 sensor 2. Mini Mania has already replaced the header and cat under warranty to no avail. I was running Dinan stage 4 software but went to GIAC thinking that I might have a software problem.
I had the GIAC software installed yesterday. The car seems to be running smoother but it threw a code this morning.
My MCS has Nology wires, Iridium Plugs, Screamin Demon coil, Dinan Throttle Body, Cold Air Intake, 15% pulley, GIAC software, Ultrik Header and high flow cat and the Borla Cat Back System.
Do I need to wait and see if the new software just needs time to adapt?
Do I need upgraded injectors?
Do I need to just replace the O2 sensors?
What I do need is some help!!!
Thanks, J. R.

Dinan woes
Sorry for the long post;
I got the problem fixed.
I replaced Dinan stage 4 software with GIAC and took off a oxygen sensor bypass harness that I had installed to try and fix the Check engine light issue.
This was a week ago and no light since. I feel quite put out since I paid $499.00 for Dinan stage 4 software (I had previously paid 399.00 for Dinan stage 1 software). I now have 900.00 tied up in Dinan software that I am no longer using. My service technician (not a MINI dealer) recommended Dinan software initially and the the upgrade to stage 4 when I went with the Dinan throttle body. Later Dinan issued stage 5 software for 500.00 + for those who have their boost kit. I would have tried stage 5 if I wasn't afraid a stage 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 -10 -11 were forthcoming.
I guess the stage 4 software was not tuned for the 15% pulley I run. Dinan recommends stage 5 for a pulley but wants you to purchse a new fuel pressure regulator and their pulley (1500.00 boost kit + 500.00 for stage 5 software= total 2000.00 for a pulley upgrade that is already on my car) None of the forums or experts I contacted seem to think that the MCS ever runs lean with a 15% pulley (no one except Dinan)
The moral of the story is apparently do not use any Dinan parts or software with other aftermarket vendors. Also, do not try to slowly mod your car with Dinan unless you want to buy multiple very expensive software upgrades everytime you upgrade a part on your car.
It looks like Dinan would let you upgrade your software for a smaller fee once you owned one version - ie; if you own stage 1 and buy Dinan parts and need stage 2 you should be able to buy it for less than someone who has never purchased Dinan software before.
If you want to go with Dinan do not upgrade anything on your car until you can afford to do it all in one shot or you will be paing 400 to 500 for software everytime you turn around.
I respect Dinan quality and engineering but feel taken advantage of. I am finished with Dinan after this experience. I have a stage 3 Dinan suspension installed and had intended to go the Dinan route completely.
By the way, where is the Dinan warranty and willingness to work with a customer? It is not there unless everything you have done is completely Dinan....

Someone done ripped you off my friend...........Im a Dinan rep and you dont pay full price on every software updated you get....all you pay is the difference in prices plus the 1/2 hour labor. So if the stage 4 software costs $449 and the stage 5 is $549 all you pay is the $100 difference plus the labor to do the flash.
As for the warrenty thing....They have the right to accept or deny any warrenty issue that suits them....If a company makes certain items that they only tested to work with there other components then dont you think what you did wouldnt be covered. Thats like saying if Unichip ( just came off the top of my head ) makes there software and a intake and only has tested those components to work with each other and you go out and use there chip and say an ALTA CAI and you start to have issue b.c say the ALTA CAI is bringin in more air than the other intake and your setting off CEL....i wouldnt cover you either at a companies point of view being your mix n matchin stuff they didnt intend to be used without there own parts.

Well, it does states it right in their warranty and on the web site:
"The Dinan Limited Warranty Specifically Excludes:.....damage to a component or assembly due to the installation of replacement parts with specifications that differ in any material respect from the original vehicle manufacturer’s or Dinan parts, •damage resulting from the unauthorized modification of a Dinan part or assembly, •damage resulting from the use of other manufacturer’s products in conjunction with Dinan products or systems,..."
And you were ripped off with the software upgrade, sounds like you have a bad dealer there and should probably report them to Dinan (some stage to stage softwares are even free sans the labor*). However, they are right in trying to advise you about the parts to use with the software as that is what it was designed and tested for, after all they can't be liable for your mixing and matching.
*Dinan needs to have the price list reflect what the cost should be from stage to stage software upgrades on the website - 1FSTMINI, as a rep perhaps you can notify them of the omission and how customers are being inadvertantly or intentionally ripped off due to the lack of info readily available about that.

I would need the dealers name, last 7 in the VIN and the RO# which the work was done on ( RO= repair order ) and ill see what i can do. Dinan doesnt really care what people do with there stuff ( they dont wanna hear about what happens really ) but they will say they dont want you to do this n that.

You could still say that people ask you about the software stage to stage upgrade pricing and you see issues arising with it online and point out that info is missing on the Dinan web site/price list Tell them as a rep it is costing them sales and they will hear you.
