I almost got in an accident

I have noticed my transmission not catching in first when I would release the clutch quickly, ex: when trying to get on the highway quickly. IT would make a studdering sound and the would catch.

I was making a left turn on green yield, when My clutch slipped and disengaged itself, I had to slam it in to 2nd and hall **** before getting smashed by another on coming car.

I called mini of Dallas immediatly and told them the problem, they inturn said the quickest we can see you is next week. So I am not driving at all, for safety reasons. I did a search and found some people said the transmission was covered, some said it was normal wear and tear. It has 30,600 miles on it. It should be covered correct. If it totally disengages in first gear?

That should be covered. Goodluck with that, it sounds like an expensive problem.

So glad to see the word "almost" in this thread title. I would expect tranny "issues" to be covered...but I wonder if you can drive it on little jaunts if you were extremely deliberate about shifting...knowing it might not engage and being ready and able to compensate if needed. Not sure how you feel about it, or how extreme the symptoms are in a real traffic situation, but usually you can nudge these things around just to run little errands. You may learn more about the symptoms/problem.

Its not likely to be clutch related if it only happens in 1st gear. If the shifter feels like it has some slop, look under the airfilter box,at the trans/shifter joints. Also shifter & cable joints. Otherwise its going to be internal (selector or 1st gear/laygear) It will be covered under warranty, unless they flake & pull their trump card.
