DSC Question

ok guys, i was just working on my car yesterday and while i was think of putting the AUX input for my iPod thru my unused DSC spot on the toggle, i ogt to wondering, if you can just add a fog light in the rear by plugging it in and having the dealer program it, can you add DSC by changing out my toggle bank and having the dealer turn something on in the computer?

i noticed many things on the car are plug-and-play (ie security system, rear fog light) so i was thinking DSC must be that way too.

does anyone know?

Many things are prewired like alarm and such but the DSC requries several sensors (gyros) that have be connected throughout the car. I do not believe that is is all that simple. I know the main DSC sensor is under the center console (beneath hand brake) but it also uses the ABS sensor to get info and work. SO what I am saying is that I am not sure but i don't think it is a simple plug and play deal. I am sure it can be done, for a price...

but do you really think MINI would have had set 2 seperate wiring harnesses for adding DSC to the car? it seems like that if they have pigtails laying taped up for the alarm in the celing, under the bonnet and in the boot, they would just have taped up the wires out of the way until they are needed during production......seems that if they made it plug and play, it would have saved some money. and we all know BMW like to save LOTS of money!

it is not just plug and play. The base "ASC+T" does not require all the additional sensors or logic the the DSC requires. They may have kept the same wiring harness, but they surely would not leave the yaw sensor, steering sensor, etc. It probably could be retrofitted, but not at a trivial price.
