Bahamabart,
I didn't think you were trying to say anything bad, just didn't want other people to think that. Thank you for your patronage, we really appriciate it.

jbsf3,
Feel free to have the shop call us when your car is there friday. We would like to find out if it was our part or not. Talk to you soon!

Just a note:
We never determined what caused the defect on the pulley.
Randy had never had a problem with an Alta pulley (with over 400 installs). Mine was the first. I will email Randy to see if he still has the pulley, maybe he can send it back to Alta for inspection.

well not that it matters since all cars are different but i have 104,000 miles on the same stock belt and have had the 15% reduction pully installed at 50,000 miles and still running it no slipping or any issues of the sort so i wonder what could have caused that hmmmm i better knock on wood, it will prolly break as i leave work today

the gator belts ive heard make a whining noise like those crazy supercharged hot rods!!!!! i want one !!

The car is back on the road and seems to be fixed. The shop found a small burr/nick on the crank pulley and was able to smooth/polish it out. The burr was actually making contact with the belt and causing the wear. It is not known if the burr came from the factory, shipping, a fall somewhere in between or during the install- at this point it will never be known. The car is working great and the issue seems to be solved. Thanks for all the help.

You ever feel how hot the SC gets on its own?

When the pullies are heated to put on the shaft, the SC isn't in the oven. Total heat load is LOW.

When the pully is removed, it's done with a puller, not heat, so once again, no issues.

Matt

ps, someone could always try to remove one with a torch, but all I can say is I hope those genes don't propogate in the species!

jbsf3,
That would surely explain the belt chewing on the inside. I just saw the pics you sent us, and that surely would do it! I am glad that your belt gremlin is gone, and we are glad to help!
