Dealer programming. What options?

I will be picking up my 05 MCS in a few weeks. I understand the dealer has the ability to program some functions and features such as auto door locking, DRL's, etc.

Is there a list out that shows these options, I want to be prepared.

Any opinions on which options I should choose or avoid ?

Thanks!

here is a start .... but list really needs to be updated

http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?f...faq_faq_memory

auto-locking of car after 2 minutes if car unlocked but doors not opened. some like this, some hate this. I have it and I have not had problems. works for me.

running lights can be set on when car is on. These are lower power headlights, (something like less than low beam headlights - don't ask me how...)

Whether or not you want the 'faint' low gas chime to ring when the low gas led comes on.

Lots of changes since the list at mini2 was made in 2003, some new things, some old things no longer supported...

Good luck and enjoy your new car !!

Whatever choices you make just understand that once you get beyond the basic locking options there could be some listed choices which MAY not be available to you, due to continuing programming updates by MINI. If your dealer will go along with it, I'd ask to be present when the programming is done, so you can see for yourself which choices are available on your specific car.

I personally like it. I like the idea that, if I park in some unsavory place and shut off the engine, the doors stay locked. Not that I would pull into a crowd of carjackers knowingly and shut down, but if I did, I wouldn't have to worry about hitting the lock. :-)

Does this work independently of the auto lock option? I don't want the car to lock the doors automatically when I start moving....

Thanks for the list of options! How does the fuel warning alarm work? Is it just a beep when it gets low, or does it constantly beep and drive you crazy?

Dealer Programmable Options

As for the unlock when the engine is off, that is independant of the "auto lock after two minutes if you unlock with the remote and do not open the doors" feature.

As for the gas chime, it is a one time only chime, and to be honest I listen to the radio so much that I almost never hear the chime. It should be louder and I have been thinking about making it louder.

and yes, the auto lock when moving is a separate programming option.

Thanks for the info! I will make a list and get the dealer to program it before I hand over the check....

Will go with:
Auto unlock after engine stop. enabled
No auto lock after 10mph. disabled
Low fuel warning sound enabled.

Leave others at default...
