Recharging AC

Does anyone know how to recharge AC. I find two valves on the left side of the car-one near the radiator and another closer to the engine bay. Which one do you add freon to?

I'm not saying you should do it yourself but the connection that comes with the recharge kit will only fit the correct one.

If your car is still under warranty - definitely go to the dealer.

Also, be careful with DIY repair/recharge kits - many have stop-leak mixed in them which could seriously screw up your system.

always always always charge through the low side!! (if you take both caps off, it's the smaller one). now that you know enough not to blow your arm off, i do not recommend that you charge your own a/c unless you know what you are doing. simply adding freon will not make it colder. too much freon will increase the low side pressure and raise the evaporator temperature. the only way to properly charge an a/c system is to completely evacuate the system and charge it with the correct amount of 134a (by weight), OR monitor the pressures on low and high side with a pressure guage and use a performance chart to determine the proper pressures according to ambient temperature. short answer: take it to the dealer
