Help! MCS Steptronic EML, Service Engine

My new Cooper S, steptronic has been having trouble. When the car is started, the EML and Service Engine Soon lights come on, the car drives very jerky, like it is not shifting smoothly(driving in automatic). I took the car in two weeks ago and they kept the car for 5 days, they had a difficult time determining the source of the problem, but replaced the bybass valve and said it should be fine. Not so, the problem is back. I was wondering if anyone else has had this trouble, and if so how do I fix it. Help!

I have the same problem.

Great, I'm supposed to take mine in on Friday and they are going to change the bypass valve to "fix" the problem. It's nice to know ahead of time that it won't help!

Checking the original date of this thread I would say the problem this MINI owner was experiencing was due to the tranny's ecu and wiring. MINI issued a recall back in July 05 which reporgrammed the ecu and relocated some of the engine wiring harness to remove this issue.
