Break in Period???

New Mini owner, have it going on my 3rd week. have kept my RPM in the 4000 range during shift, have not put the pedal to the metal yet.

can someone tell me how many miles you need for the mini to be broke in?

Thanks

It varries from one source to another but I was told by the dealer I bought from...under 4.5K rpm for the first 1K miles then let 'er rip. I've done 2 that way now and all's well.

The '05 manual says "up to 1250 miles", stay under 4500 RPM and under 95MPH, while varying the engine speed as much as possible.

This seems to be the key requirement that people miss. Use different gears for the same travel speed if you need to keep travel speed constant.
