Antifreeze

What is the safe antifreeze other than the dealer one for MINI's coolent system not to cause corrosion problem? Owning a VW Vanagon make me very uneasy to refill it with just any common brands from auto supply store without checking first.

Thanks

None. I just went to the dealers to get some and mixed it 50/50with Distilled water and Redline's WaterWetter.

Be sure to specify MINI coolant and not BMW , there is a difference. Cost is the same.

What is the difference? I ask because I think my dealer filled mine w/ BMW coolant. My 12-02 build MCS' blue coolant turned brown in short order, as many of you have experienced. Dealer flushed it out & the coolant they replaced it with is green. Do they still use blue in new MINIs?

Eh, it comes in a MINI brand coolant bottle, seriously. The guy at the parts dept. asked which kind of car I had, I was surprised and at first thought they might be selling me USED BMW coolant.

The MINI stuff is Blue and after flushing the system of the brown stuff, it's still blue.
