Oil Temperature ??

What does your oil temperature average?
My "S" with 15% pulley had seemed to hover around 100c (212f), lately it seems to be about 10 degrees (c) hotter with spikes as high as 120c under hard driving. The extra heat concerns me. What do you think? I keep the engine serviced and all the fluids seem correct. I have Redlines Water Wetter in the radiator and Prolong in the oil pan. When (temp) should the electric cooling fan kick on during driving? What may have caused this change? How many of you have invested in oil coolers? Thanks for your opinions....

My stock '04 runs about 90c, climbed to 100c going up one hill, but it's usually below that. Haven't previously had an oil temp gauge, so other than that, I can't say what 'normal' is...

oil temp

mine seems to get to about 235 degrees when getting higher rev's (5500). This is on a brand new motor (well at 1550 miles) getting broken in. I haven't rev'ed it past 5500 rpm yet, and when I get up to 5500 rpm the temp spikes to 235 and then goes back to the middle mark... I ponder if that is just the motor getting broken in, with increased heat as each new rpm high is reached...

Realization--- I did change my oil and filter recently, and have the chrono pack with oil temp... I didn't see any sensor attached to the oil drain plug... where is that sensor?? any leads to where photos of this sensor might be??

195 is normal . some guys are seeing temps as high as 275 - 300 . if you get crazy spikes which drop immediately ; check your wires for looseness ; mine did it a couple times due to a loose wire .

I have an oil cooler, but I dont have an oil temp gauge. I got the oil cooler and oil catch can to prepare for my 15% pulley.

You want to see a temp of at least 100C to make sure you burn off any of the water vapor that has condensed in the pan and engine. A temp of 110C to 120C is within specs for the synthetic oils used. I have seen temps of 20C hotter when running Castrol compared to Mobil 1.

i've been averaging 170 f for more than a year with absolutely no issues of oil contamination . the ideal temp has been looking like 150 as far as viscosity goes . meaning that after 150 f and higher the pressure change is identical at any given engine speed . no condensation at all .

I disagree. You will drive the water off even before boiling. Watch the pot, see the steam even before the boiling starts?

Do you have other mod's. Does cell go on at time's? reason to ask if have enough mod's maybe stock injector's may not be able to keep up. If that is the case you will lean the mixture, which will inc. cylinder heat. I would think however if that is the case your cell would go off.
Also have the gage ck'd. Ck and possibly repalce water pressure cap. Doesn't have to leak to be bad, which will cause inc. heat. Ck also and possibly replace water temp. thermostat.
