After they auto level, it seems like the right headlamp shoots a beam towards the right, and up a little. I haven't been flashed (bright lights) by any other drivers signaling me blinding them, so I'm not sure if this is a design by MINI or if my headlamp is off. It's nothing too major, and it lights up the side of the road, which might be the reason for it. Not seeing a family of Deer on the side of the road until you have already passed them is a pretty scarry thing! Anyone else have this issue?

There is nothing wrong with the beam pattern.

The reason for it is that on the interstate, the upward sweep to the right will illuminate signs on the right side, while still keeping the beam pattern at a down angle to people on your left (oncoming traffic) and straight in front of you (the people that you are following).

Actually that beam pattern is more Euro in specification. Most D.O.T. compliant light patterns generally throws a lot of light up into the air. You also tend to get more dark spots in the D.O.T. light patterns. The eurospec and Euro/DOT compliant light patterns tend to have fewer dark patches an a more crisp cut off.

I installed the Euro spec (E-code) lights on my 2000 Jetta. Even though both the D.O.T. lights and E-codes were halogen, the E-code beam pattern alone was *much* better in terms of the amount of usable light that got on the road.

The MINI lighting is some of the best I have seen (both in halogen and Xenon form). You might try to raise the entire pattern by using the UP adjustment screw on both lights. That would raise the _/ Experiment with that, and I'm sure you'll get the results you want, as my xenons were aimed low, and once they were raise, it helped *a lot*.

My Xenons do it. I am pretty sure that is how they are set cause 1) it doesn't blind anyone 2) it lights up the side for deer, etc. But my driving lights are point down too much.

DID: thank you very much for the information. i was hoping/thinking that this was a correct. i actually like the way they are pointed now and don't plan making any adjustments. thanks for the reminder on that feature though.

npartist: i agree that the driving lights might be a bit low, but i like how they fill in the road ahead.

thanks again guys for such great and prompt help. DID, you are amazing! Too much info in your head!
