R56 broken ground strap replacement discussion

Hello, the ground strap on my 2012 R56 is broken.

I called the nearest dealer and they have it for 100CAD + tax ...

So I'm looking for an alternative.
I found some cheap replacements, but now I'm wondering what is the better option to replace the Mini factory ground strap.

Here's what I found
option a) 16$ 1ga insulated wire https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/m...p.html?loc=plp
option b) 10$ 4ga grounding strap https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/m...-0112000p.html

What are your advices on heat, durability, load capacity for this important ground that carries the starter current?
Which option seems the best?
Do you have another option that doesn't cost 100$+tax?
Do you know what the wire gauge is on the OEM grounding strap?

I think the better choice is the cheap 13-inch 4ga ground strap with a protective sleeve

4ga is most common on modern vehicles. I've seen 2ga but that's overkill for a 4-cylinder, IMHO.
I would guess the CTC version would be just fine. You might run into fitment problems with the insulated version, since its lugs are fairly chunky and you need a good flat connection on both ends.
I also wouldn't pay $100 for a MINI branded part I could replace with a $10 version.

Thanks for your reply Leora83.

I decided to use the 4ga ground strap for 11$ and it does the job well. I added a protective sleeve to keep it from rubbing on the engine mount too.
Car starts right up again.

Would you please update me that how the $11 ground strap is going on?
I got battery drain problem for two years since I bought the mini r60, recently I just found it might be the problem of the ground strap.
I am wondering if you got the same issue when you were with the bad ground strap. Thx~

A bad ground wouldn't cause the battery to drain.
