Is this in the stock airbox?

if so/not how do I remove it? Do I need to remove the airbox as if i were swapping for a new intake?

Two torx screws, and hinge it rearward and pull the top of the air box out and forward. Don't clean the stock paper filter, replace it!

 

Perhaps I will. I recently had the car in the body shop and a LOT of dust around in the air. I tried to start her up once a week, and I have to imagine that a lot of that dust got into the filter. Now, my gas mileage sucks at about 24mpg highway, compared to the 28+ aggressive highway i was getting before. ^ reason for the query in the first place, in case you were wondering.

 

Ive got a spare filter with only 1000 miles on it.... where are you located?
