Restarting ECU/Main Computer how?

After having the car in dormant mode for several weeks. I am driving it again and am having engine stalling problems. Sporadically while driving the service engine light will come on and the engine will start stalling, no gas is getting to the engine, it seems. Also, the EML light comes on when this is happening. It only happens for about 2-3 seconds on av. never more then 5. I talked to the dealership and told them that the battery had been disconnected for a long period of time( >1week) and he said that there is a good chance that it is the Main Computer, like it "forgot" how to run, or something. Anyway, they said it would probably be about $100 which isnt outrageous but nevertheless, does anyone know how to restart it or reboot or something? I would really appreciate some info. Thanks in advance.

If not, on a similar note, Do anyone know if having the dealer do this $100 job would fix it, do you think getting my ECU flashed would also fix it? because one of my upcomming mods is to flash/replace the ECU(whichever it is) and if i could save the $100 ands put it towards a new ECU prog.

Try this first:

Disconnect both battery terminals, and hold them together for six seconds (without touching the battery), and then reconnect the terminals to the battery. That's a soft boot, which is done at the dealership whenever they re-write to your eprom. That sometimes will clear faults.

Does the soft boot result in the ECU going back to default settings?

**Update**

This engine stalling seems to occur much more when I hit a bump or my car experiences EXTREME G-forces like in turning and take-off. So, I now think that there may be a grounding cable loose. Anyone else have this occur?

P.S. thanks for the booting information, anyway.
