Time to put the engine back together - periodic guidance please
Hey team! I just got my block back from the machine shop. I blew pistons (thread here) and suspect a faulty fuel pump. This is the first mini I've built. I've got the Bently book and am also using
1. First question: The guy in the video uses lubricant on the head bolts. My kit didn't come with lubricant and I don't see it mentioned in the Bently manual. The instructions that came with the head gasket show a picture with an oil can. Can I just use some oil?

I used a small amount of oil (Mobil1 0w40) on the threads and on the bolt as shown in the pics when I did the head and head gasket on my 2011 N18. I don't recall if I did as the pics show and used oil only on the threads and the shoulder part of the bolt but not on the washer where it contacts the head. That's some highly technical stuff right there!
Next question...I need to install the two main bearing cap bolt sealing caps. FCP euro suggests using Loctite 273 and I can only find it in Europe. It looks like it's a special blend for BMW.
