yes I definetely will. Looking back at your post the inpa readings, etc seemed very similar as yours. Glad ur yo-yo went away with the new sensor. Have u had any issues with this new sensor since installing it?

I understand it is difficult for these supply companies to keep an eye out on all parts, but unfortunately whwn we are coughing up the extra money for the genuine bmw/mini part we are expecting to get a quality part comparable with the original so we don't run into problems. I should def not get a code within the first 5 mins of install and run . Will def keep you up to date on pelican reply.

No issues after install. I just didn’t like the “china” on the face of it.

as soon as I installed it my trims were right and the engine is running perfect. It’s been a few months.

u might have received a bad sensor (what are the odds?)

u might have a wiring issue (connectivity)

Glad it worked out for you.

not sure if I received a bad sensor , but when I look at the sensor probe being further out and the sensor body looking different I def start to think that the issue is more that the sensor is acting wonky because it doesn't belong there.

I tought of the wiring, but it was reading on inpa.
never got a code until.i put this china sensor on . Once I replaced the sensor with my original one and reset code , the code has not come back

Well heard back from pelican parts and their answer is the basic answer of " our parts department has checked it and the parts number matches the oem " they did arrange a return , but now I am.out the shipping . To be fair the pic on their website it the " continental sensor" but I did not notice they were different until I removed it to swap. I don't understand as I also ordered the 648 map sensor by the intake and it came the same as oem . Looks exactly like my old one and looks exactly like my oem old tmap sensor , but with different serial.on it . I am so confused. I did notice both boxes are bmw oem but the correct sensor said " made in germany" the wrong one sais made in Phillipines on box and " China " on sensor "

Anyhow ordered the tmap from local mini dealership now so there were no issues and what do u know .... " I get the same freaking sensor from Philippines with different bodystyle ! I argued with sales counter and they telling me.its non refundable as its special.order .

Next step i will contact bmw and see what they say,

Input new continental sensor on, go for a run and a p0108 code again . My old oem doesn't throw the code . Now I am.confsed if my old sensor is shot and would not detect the p0108 or is it these darn Philippine sensors which are not compatible . Now starting to wonder if my precat is cooked and causing backpressure and that may be the cause of my super rich fuel trims ?

Will keep u updated on bmws response to this ...

Yes sir. If u received the same part (continental) from the dealer also I’d stop there…

we now have three vendors saying this is the oe part.

also we have a confirmed working case (working in my stock r53 engine).

id start looking for other causes of high manifold pressure. Attached the pinouts. You could test the voltage…

The question is what else can cause high manifold pressure?

thank you for the response and info u provided. It will def help. As much as I love learning on this car when it comes to electronics It is over my head. I will get a voltmeter and try to watch some videos on diagnosing the tmap.
yes u are correct that the one u installed in your car is running well, but I still don't get why such a difference in sensor style. Like I said the new map sensor I received ( 648)( made in germany) looks exactly like the original (679) tmap i had on car , so why isn't this sensor from the philipines look the same ?
the only thing I can think of with this manifold pressure too high would be a cooked or plugged catylic or perhaps an issue with the wiring or ecu transmitting the wrong info .
Waiting on mechanic to replace the exhaust header ( 4-2-1)and install afr guage ,as I still have original one on and will see if that helps correct the weird manifold pressure and high fuel trims . I will see the catylic condition at that point .

I may have missed it since I've not read the entire thread closely, but is it possible to check the MAP sensor reading with the engine off? It should read the same as atmospheric pressure, shouldn't it?
