PCV Question

2012 JCW N14 - PCV / Valve cover (ebay special) replaced less than 1,000 miles ago.

I have some oil on the back of the valve cover and it is coming from the PCV crankcase hose / intake manifold underneath the airbox. To test the PCV I removed the hose and blow through but the air is not coming through to the other side / intake snorkel side.
Same results when blowing from intake / snorkel side, no air passing through.

If I suck on the hoses the valve opens and air passes through. I also noticed when shaking the PCV there is only a small rattle sometimes, possibly indicating it is bad.

I did an oil change tonight (last oil change less than 1K miles ago) also and the oil was very black, not sure if it is related but I do see that could be an indication of a clogged PCV

I should be getting 100% flow through the PCV out to the intake snorkle / Drivers side of the engine?

Just the PCV or the valve cover as well?

Could be another bad valve cover PCV I suppose if it was from ebay, I've tried the ones from AliExpress and didn't find them to be too bad compared to OE but most likely just will be like the ones ebay sells cheap Chinese parts.

Doesn't sound too good if your oil is getting very black after 1K miles.

Have you had a look at this thread

Bad ebay special! I contacted the seller for a replacement and almost immediately I was refunded not replaced. Makes me think seller is aware there is an issue, or maybe he just did not want to deal with it. I replaced it with the URO valve cover from O'Reily. The cost was a little more than double @ $120.00

Of course did an oil change and filled with Mobil Euro 0W40

We have the full covers listed in that thread above. Then you solve the gasket leak and have a newer clean cover.
