Hello everyone! First time poster here.

I was wondering if any of you have had this issue: I hit the Start button, the engine tries to turn over but struggles. Sometimes it will start if I keep my finger on the start button then give it some gas. Not ideal. When it does not start, it just does that whurrrr-whurrrr-whurrrr sound. No annoying clicking thank goodness.

So far I have changed all the spark plugs, and the battery is less than a year old. The last time I started up my car, my friend said that there was a bit of smoke that came out the exhaust pipes when I revved the engine. I imagine that is a different issue from the engine not turning over though.

The car has less than 80K on it, and otherwise runs like a dream. My mechanic said that it may be the fuel pump, and that it is a known issue for this car. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
