'09 Base Water Pipe removal

I think I must be doing something wrong. I can't remove the water pipe. It hits the linkage I've circled. All of the videos I've researched simply show it coming right out. Mine is not. Do I need to loosen the linkage in order to hopefully make enough room for the removal? If so, anyone know what size the star bolts are, also that I've circled, and exactly what they're called as I'll need to source the correct socket. Thanks so much for your input!

I think that is the shifter linkage - manual car? If so they are 6 pointed torx bolts, IIRC. You'll need a metric Torx socket set. I got one from Home Depot for like $40 - you'll never regret have it if you own a newer car. Even my Dad's Ford now uses them on brake calipers. I do not remember the size but am sure you can find on Newtis. I believe I removed this also to simplify removal of the pipe. Most important for me was removing the two nuts under the manifold from beneath the car and twisting the pipe as you remove it.
