Car cranks but won't start - No communication possible with engine electronics
Hi all,
My Mini Cooper S 2010 (R56) N14 engine cranks, but won't start. (The car battery is new)
When replacing valve cover, I accidentally broke off the grounding wire that connects between the coils on the valve cover stud. After the car failed to start a few times, I fixed the grounding wire, reset all the codes and still have this issue.
The OBDII codes are - U114B U115B U115E
After disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and resetting all the codes through ISTA, the codes that remain are:
S0129 "No communication possible with: Engine electronics"
00D525 "No message (DME-DDE), receiver EPS, transmitter DME-DDE"
I can communicate with all other modules. FRM module is new as of 2 weeks ago, no gremlins there anymore.
Did I fry my ECU?
Is there a way to reset the ECU and make it communicate again?
Any suggestions on how to test it?
I have a multimeter, a Rheingold software with cable, and an oscilloscope. I might need help finding the right ECU cable pinout charts.
I would very much appreciate your suggestions!
Thanks!
Oleg
