Alignment/Tracking problem??

History: I had a seal go out and I lost all of my PS fluid a few weeks ago on my 2003 MCS (22,000 miles). The dealer replaced my entire rack and pinion system - no worries there. They also aligned the front end.
My problem is now, the car just doesn't "feel" right when driving at low speeds (20 - 40 mph). It tends to not track straight all the time - if there is a anomoly in the road, it will pull either left or right - I have to maintain a pretty firm grip on the wheel as I never know when it will pull.
I just don't remember this happening before the new r&p was installed. I made an appointment with the dealer next week to check it out, and the Serv Mngr said, "I doubt if its an alignment problem, it's just our roads. But we'll take it out for a drive."
Am I nuts? Any experience or knowledge out there so I can talk like I know what I'm talking about when I bring it in?

alignment problem! I'm sure it is...
Maybe to much toe out.. ? If they don't fix it then take it to a good alignment shop.

My brother had his MINI aligned at the dealer, but it still pulled to one side. He took it back the next day, they did it again (this time paying more attention to how well they did it), and now it tracks correctly.

Same with mine. Took it to a non-dealer for alignment. Still pulls to one side. At the time, I had bad tires and that was their guess for why it pulled. Put on proper tires and it still pulls (of course).

It seems I have to find an alignment shop with the proper amount of love and craftsmanship to really care enough to do an outstanding job.

You can have the dealer do it again. When the tech aligns the wheels and the red lights on the TV screen go to green, make sure he keeps going for better alignment numbers than just the green screen. This is what happened when I watched them do it at the MINI dealer.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try to watch the tech, and maybe since I'm there for an alignment complaint they will pay more attention. I do know a good alignment shop, where that's all they do. I've gone down the route of a retail chain tire store doing an alignment - never again.
