Rear caliper piston extraction?

Trying to do a rebuild on my rear calipers...usually (on the fronts or on other vehicles) to get the piston out I just shoot compressed air into the brakeline hole, but that ain't working, presumably due to the parking brake ratchet mechanism? Anybody got any tips? I have a push-and-turn retraction tool - do i need to figure a way to pull-and-turn? Even a schematic of how the ratchet works might help....

I swapped the rubber boot on my rear right brake piston. I kept turning the piston counterclockwise like I was unscrewing it and it seemed like if I kept doing that it would have came all the way out. I did not take out my piston though I just jammed the new boot lip back down into the groove and twisted it back in.

Thanks, that did it - came right out, no problem.
