We have 16,000 miles on are mini cooper s, when we give it braking you can hear a sandy rubbing scratchy, sound, is this the brake pad needing changing? We drive in the city, most of the time and the brakes are used a lot. If we do replace them, we will get mintek pads. What could it be? And are mintek good?

 

littlehandegan - Take it to your dealer and have them check the right/rear caliper pistons. A number of people have found their's sticking. If you let it go to long it can start taking metal off your rotor.

 

Don't know how bad you want the Mintex, but brake work is included in the service program up to 36K miles.

 

True but i want them for the less brake dusts, and better braking. And while their up under there might as well paint the calipers hehe.
