Thermostat & water pipe fittings

I am replacing the thermostat on our 2009 Clubman S, and the hard plastic water pipe that connects the water pump to the thermostat broke where it attaches to the water pump. When I removed the water pipe, it appears to have a flange for a bolt that was not present, and realoem does not show the bolt, and I can't find a spec. Is there in fact a bolt that might mount this to the engine block a little more securely?

that is not for a bolt. there is a plastic wire holder that attaches on it. most of the time, once you pull it, it breaks!!! not a big deal though

Thanks for the quick response. It looks like the thermostat just seals against the block housing by the gasket, with no groove or centering other than than what is provided by the 3 mounting bolts. Is that correct?

100% correct.

The pipe and thermostat are aligned though. notice the notch and groove on them.

Thanks for the confirmation. Yes, with the notch in the water pipe everything lines up nicely once the bolts go in.
