P2171 intermittent

Hi,

I'm new to this site, and, late model Minis so posted in 1st gear about a problem I'm having with an R56 Cooper S that we just bought for my niece. It's got about 65,000 miles under the hood and running fine except for an intermittent MIL that scans as P2171 on my generic ELM327? OBD2 device (pops up every 2-3 hours or so).

Searching online MIL lists for the Mini tells me that P2171 refers to Exhaust Exhaust Pressure Regulator Vent Solenoid Control Circuit High - but I can't find anything about this.

Thought it might refer to the diverter valve solenoid so contacted GFB here in Oz but the tech hasn't seen that code and doesn't think so anyway because the valve is intake side. Think's it might have something to do with the exhaust gas recirc?

Can anybody enlighten on this pretty please?

Cheers
