Activating the day time running lights should be a piece of cake. My dealer (New Country) did mine a couple of weeks ago when it was in for the Cold Start Fix and had no problem. They did however say the did not have the software to activate the other convenience options I had asked for, ie remote window opening and auto locking.

Ask them if they can do those also. The auto opening from the remote is a better useof the remote than having it open the hatch.

Motor On

When I got my MINI it already had the auto lock and remote window and sunroof opening(something I found out about by accident) already programmed. I am curious about the day time running lights, does it use the xenon lights or a lower level light, and what other programming options are available for the U.S. MINI?

If you have a Cooper S have them check for coolant loss from the expansion tank seam.

The daytime driving light uses the high beam light. The problem I see when activated, I believe it does not give you the option to turn it off while driving. I for one just turn on my high beam light when ever I feel there is a need for safe driving. That's my opinion.

Yes, the DRLs use the high beam, but at reduced power. Simply switching the high beams on can blind oncoming drivers even in the daytime.

You're correct in saying that the DRLs, once activated by the dealer, cannot be switched off by the driver.
