i was just about ready to start up the crispy mini and i cant get the key back in the ignition.... it went in before without any problem... the radio turns on and the inside lights work... What could be causeing this, is there some lock or some trick or something??????

 

Someone PLEASE tell me how to fix this... this is driving me crazy.... IM SO CLOSE BUT SO FAR AWAY!!!!!!!!!

 

Hope you have fixed this,but try turning the steering wheel a bit.Or can't you get the key in?
Your car has been sitting for awhile,been following your work,impressive,anyway,try some WD 40 right in the keyhole,the guard may have locked up.

 

Hey Jonathan, I have been following your progress on the “Crispy MINI” from early on, but no updates on your website since August and now you are about to start it up. Are you holding out on us? As far as the lock goes I looked thru my service manual and it says that when removing it you are supposed to stick a paperclip into the small hole on the outside of the inner metal part (does that make any sense?) but that is after you turn the key to the ON position. For kicks you may try to stick a clip in there to see if that will move something around in there. Have you removed the ignition switch?

 

figured out how to get the key in.... just put flat head screwdriver in the key hole, push white thing that was blocking the key and insert key... but it does this everytime i take the key out... i guess ill just have to figure out a way to put a starter button on it eventualy..
