Experiences buying from NorthWestEuro.

I am looking to buy a good, used power steering pump for my '06 MINI, and found one on e-bay offered by NorthWestEuro for $149, inc fan. It is stated in the listing as coming from a "2006 R53 with 25000 miles". Sounded like a good deal, so I did my usual check of the feedback rating as I don't remember buying from them before.

I saw that several PS pumps/fans have been sold by them, and on checking "view item", I found that they all came from a "2006 R53 with 25000 miles"!! Could be just a template that they use for all of their PS pump listings.

Can anyone comment on their dealings with NorthWestEuro? They seem legit, and I know that they have listed many cars in the Marketplace that they are breaking. Would like some input before I pull the trigger on "buy-it-now".

Personally, because its so much work to change out the pump that I would not buy anything but new. I'm on my third pump in 150K; those replacements were provided either under original warranty or the recall.

I thought of the recall, but isn't that 150000miles/13 years, whichever is sooner? I just passed 170000 of course.

I'm sorry, but this keeps catching my eye and a red flag keeps popping up each time I read it.

I'd back off.

And only one owner that never turned right or left so the pump is like brand new . . . . . .

FermanBMW have one listed @ $325, free shipping. "OEM remanufactured from the factory". I think that I will go with this one.

I just had mine replaced back in December at the dealership under the recall as it was in for another issue at the time. At the time I had 121k miles on the clock. Call your local dealer and have your VIN handy and they will be able to check. Best case it will be fully covered plus any hoses that need to be replaced for it can be covered in the recall. Worst case they can say is that its not covered amd all you did was waste the time for a phone call.

I don't believe the recall covers the hoses.

When mine was replaced the power steering lines were covered. They are listed on the invoice as being replaced and covered under the recall. The suction line was the odd item listed as it was invoiced as an exhuast gasket. When questioning the item with both the service advisor and the shop lead we ran the part number and it cam up on realoem.com as it being the suction line. It was mismarked in their system but it was covered. I'll dig the invoice up later if you want to see.

Interesting! I know that when my pump was replaced under the recall the dealer tried to convince me that my hoses needed replacing but on my dime. I declined.

In so many of these "service enhancements" and TSB's it all comes down to how good the dealer is.
