I've been having lots of exhaust noise on deceleration the past few months. At idle, no noise at all.
I replaced the flex pipe and resonator a few months ago and it helped but the noise is starting to get even louder. Today I spotted insulation fibers at muffler outlet. I guess the guts of the muffler is gone. The outside looks great., but....

anyone know if an aftermarket replacement for the stock muffler is available? Anything close enough to make work?
Size looks to be 8 1/2" long, 6 x 11 oval, I'm guessing the inlet is 1 1/2 and outlet 1 3/4" . I'm not interested in deleting it. I've had loud cars when I was in my teens, I want a quiet Mini now.


Any help would be appreciated.

I just had a thought......yes, I know that can be dangerous, but.....has anyone ever cut open a muffler to repair the baffles then welded it back together? I thought I could cut away a section on the top side that wouldn't show when reinstalled and try and repair the baffles on the inside... Any thoughts
