Anyone had a oil consumption test?

My 2010 Mini Cooper S (automatic) has a humming, whining, clicking sound around the engine. Mini Service Center said that it's been consuming too much engine oil. They can't figure out the problem yet. They filled up the engine oil and told me to drive it for 1000 miles and bring it back for a oil consumption test. The ticket is left open.

Symptoms:
Stumbling on acceleration
Loud whining sound on low acceleration. Not on idle and I can't hear it during high speed.
Lower mpg
Feels like theres more turbo lag but I'm not sure. Maybe I'm just too use to the turbo.
Abnormal RPM shoots up in low speed sometimes.

Anyone had this done ? Similar situation?

I do this all the time (but at more random intervals than 1000 miles).
Check dipstick level.
Drive 1000 miles.
Recheck dipstick level.
Determine how much of a quart (or more) is lost in 1000 miles.
Need same level surface and about 10 minutes off before checking to get reproducible accurate readings.

I check my oil level once every week. Generally Saturday morning when the engine is cold. I've been doing it nearly every week since I purchased the car. Eventually found out the rings were bad and had to replace the engine. By checking it every week, I was able to see when the engine really started drinking it.
