Cooper S won't start after car is warmed up

Hey everyone!
I have a Cooper S 2010. Many times when I am running errands this happens:
1. The engine is warm.
2. I have been doing many stops where I shut the car off. This usually happens on my second or third stop.
3. I smell gas only at this time. It goes away rather quickly.
4. The car will turn over but it won't start.
5. If I wait for 20 minutes the car will be able to start with no problem.
6. The car will show a ! sign and a yellow engine sign. But after I get the car to restart it goes away.
7. I have replaced all the solenoids and the high pressure fuel pump.
8. This problem doesen't seem to depend on the weather.

Can anyone tell me what is going on?

You have a code, it's BMW specific, not a OBD2 code. You need to take it to either a dealer or independent that has the tool to read it. Without knowing the code, could be a zillion different things.

could be crank position sensor. Ive seen these fail when they get warm. Can you get an obdII scanner? When it is a "no-start" check for engine RPM while cranking on the engine data screen. If it doesnt change, or is not monitoring engine RPM correctly, that is probably the issue.

might be leaking fuel injector. can you try to read fuel trims while driving? if long term is between negative 15-25% percent, it won't post check engine light or any codes but might indicate you have a leaking fuel injector. if an injector is leaking, it might flood a cylinder with fuel and might stop the car from starting until gas slowly leaks into oil. this will also cause your oil to contaminate with fuel and go bad. you might also check your spark plugs for uneven discoloration or/and fuel smell. i am also going after a similar condition and i will change my injectors. there aren't any videos on youtube for this procedure so i might just film one.
