puddle lights for a pre-face R53?

I posted this in Hatch Talk, but it may need to be here even though it is more a question than a problem.

Has anyone wired a pre-facelift R53 for puddle lights? I find two nice big round holes in the bottom of each door that seem like ideal places to shine projector puddle lights through if there is room on the inside of the door to glue them; no cutting of the door card required.

My questions are:

1. Is there room at the bottom of the door with the window all the way down for the lights?

2. How hard might it be to push a wire through the door jam-to-door wiring conduit for power?
(assuming there is no puddle light wiring in there now and power came from the foot well lights)

What do you guys think?

EDIT: I answered question 1 at least for the hole at the aft end of the door. I poked the plug up inside and with the window down nothing comes within a thumb's length above the hole.
