ECM/DME Failure
ECM/DME Failure
After following the Bentley repair manual I have found my ECM/DME may be or is defective on my 2009 Mini Cooper S Clubman. I found a repair place called G7 Computers in Victor, NY. has anyone ever dealt with this repair service? Does any one recommend a repair service for the ECM/DME?
Sorry for the delayed reply. I have been out of town for four days.
First, the passenger side flooded with water because the drain tube from the sunroof was not attached to the drain tube through the A-pillar post. Water ran through the junction box fuse panel(A4010). After a week of squeezing out all the water in the carpet and thoroughly drying everything including the junction box fuse panel(A4010), the car would crank, but not start. Everything works on the car, windows, lights, radio, door locks, everything. The only code I have is an airbag light because the passenger seat was removed for drying and I tried to start it with it still out, but that should not have prevented it from starting. I checked the fuel pump relay and it was working and after a few attempt to start I could smell fuel from the exhaust, so I stopped . That afternoon I through the battery on a charge and would start testing things tomorrow. The next morning I saw the battery was not taking a full charge (it was the original battery. 9 years old) I had it tested and it failed. It had 325 CCA after charging all night. I replaced the battery and started to test components. The battery was now good, the high amperage power supply fuse panel (A406) was all good. Had power to the front power distribution box (A400a). Next thing to test was the DME mail relay. I had voltage at relay socket 30, but no ground at relay socket 85 with ignition on. I checked for continuity in ECM 28 pin and that was good. I checked pins 3, 4, 48, 49, 53 and all have ground. I even swapped out the relay and still crank and no start. So...according to my Bentley book, the ECM may be defective. I am certainly open to more thoughts on this. The closed Mini dealer is 310 miles away.

ECM/DME Repair
I have not. I should be here on the 16th. I am getting ready to clean the connectors tomorrow and will be ready when it shows up. I also saw the car that had the water up to the windows. Quite an undertaking and an achievement to get that going.
