Caution symbol

So, my 2013 Clubman justa has been displaying the amber "car on ramp" indication on start-up. Owners manual says it could be one of three things, none of which are related to the others. Engine runs fine, brake lights work, and the transmission works as advertised.
What's the best way to determine what is throwing the indication, without taking the car in to the shop?

I would get a scan tool and scan for codes, then go from there. Otherwise its a shot in the dark. Are you still under MINI warranty? Do you have a Check engine light on?

I'm under the BMW CPO warranty, but not the factory warranty.
The symbol comes and goes. It's been coming on every trip for the last two days, and then BAM, the last two trips, nothing. It'll be clear for a weeks or months, then pop up for one or two trips.

If its under CPO I would get it to them asap. They should take care of it. I dont know if you have a deductible, but the CPO I know of its just the same as the MINI factory just extended. If its that, they will take care of it and most of the time have you a MINI loaner also.
