That's very interesting. It adds to the credence that the oil housing thread is NPT, as it is sold for many Chrysler vehicles. How did you determine it fits gen 1 Minis?

Here is a photo from Amazon. Looks identical to the Mini stock one as far as I can remember.

Rockauto does list the Airtex 1S6670 as an option for our Minis, and it is the cheapest option. Under $9 so strong buy rating. So wonder if my oil housing thread is undercut. The thing is there is an exact angle which the side 1/4" port must face and I am reluctant to give it one more turn fearing of breaking the cast aluminum.

From my research a much cheaper equivalent T-adapter is Moroso 65310. It is aluminum so should be gentler on the housing should you need to really torque on it to line up the side port.

The catalog listed the mini(among a bunch of other Chrysler cars) for this part and also found it on rockauto, so for $15, it was worth the shot.

Thanks Zsm for the info. On the Moroso 65310. Do note that it's body is a bit longer than the Cravenspeed. I cannot find any spec with the body dimension. So I have to compare the relative size based on product photo. Moroso is about 1/2" longer. The reason I mention this is the oil pressure switch pigtail is very tight even with the short body Cravenspeed T fitting. It may depends on on you engine how the harness is strain-relieved by a cable tie as well as another branch that plays a tug of war. You risk having to cut and spice the single wire pigtail, but for a handsome $ saving.

The oil sensor (left side in the picture above) is a 3/8 British Pipe thread not a US NPT. The pitch is different. I had a vendor tell me the car had a Chrysler engine and since they were a US company the threads were US. Sure, an engine made in Brazil for for joint venture between DaimlerChrysler and BMW was going to have US threads.
I am glad you brought this up. It sure is strange that 3/8" NPT would be used, but that would actually be the case:

Cannot get service much better than that.
