Clutch on my 2007 Mini Cooper Super S is going out? Can I adjust clutch?

Hi, am having trouble going into 1st gear. Push on the clutch, then the gas while releasing the clutch. I have to very carefully do this else the car will stall. Can I get away with adjusting the clutch or am I looking at having to replace the clutch? Thanks!

Self adjusting clutch, a simple search would get you lots of information.

Is the clutch slipping once it is in gear? It sounds like you are having trouble getting it into gear because the clutch is not disengaging. If this is the the case you may need a new clutch slave cylinder. There is no adjustment on the clutch. How many miles are on your car?

It may be time for a new clutch with those miles. If you put the car in a high gear like 5th and floor it and the RPMs go up but the car does not go faster then the clutch is slipping and needs to be replaced. If it does not slip and is hard to get in gear at a stand still then it may be the slave cylinder. Unless you do your own work I would take it to a shop that knows how to work on Minis

How helpful is that! Thank you! I will give that a try on the freeway and let you know. I do have an excellent mini mechanic.
