2004 r50 no electric
Last night my wife started her r50 2004 mini and the ASC/DSC light came on. he started apparently did not sound right initially.
After she came home I went out and checked the car.
No electric. No lights, no started- nothing.
I checked the battery it indicated 12.75 volts. The ground cable is attached and I found no wires disconnected.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Bruce

These are just guesses and anecdotal information from an original owner of a 2004 R50 and many batteries for an R50...
First thought is that it is your battery even though it says 12.75v. Here is why - there are many computers in the car and if any of them, it seems, doesn't have enough power the whole system freaks out and does not work.
My experiences: factory battery-died just like any battery – nothing worked and it was clear that it was the battery.
Second battery – random lights on the dash would come on just a little bit longer – just long enough to think were they on longer?
Third battery - radio would work intermittently.
Forth battery - just clicking from the relay in the fuse panel in the drivers foot well - all other electrics worked fine.
Fifth battery - the ABS light would come on but only after turning my steering wheel to full lock to the left- not the right - just the left. It would come back on even after sitting over night then go off after I drove more than 100 feet or so.
A good battery will run you about $140. Only twice did the battery read low from an outside meter.
I have the factory alarm - and I have CHOSEN to believe that this is the reason that I have gone through so many batteries - please don't burst my protective bubble - I don't want to have the whole care dismantled to find that one wire that is actually causing the batteries to dies so quickly...
Second thought - the Body Control Unit 1 is either partly dead or completely dead. The BCS controls a great many things. That will run you about $700 as it needs to be coded to your cars VIN. I found that my BCU died when just the right side tail light would no absolutely nothing.

Moving you to the Stock Issues/Problems area.
OK battery is good, all your ground straps tight? If battery is good and you have NO power to anything, then have you thought about the key switch? If you are able to use a electrical tester could pull up some schematics and trouble shoot the problem.
