Rear Hatch Hinge replacement
Because...
....the right hinge had visibly rusted away. I bought new hinges yesterday and we did the job in the afternoon. It went remarkably smoothly considering that we needed to remove the rear seats, the C and B columns, the rear side panels and the headliner.
Wow, good to hear it went smooth.👍
I've heard that the 1st and 2nd Gen MINI's rear hatch's hinges have had a tendency to "warp" if opened too hard, pushed beyond the limit also (I believe that's what the case was). Anyway, I've heard they can cause a gap, as I stated above.
So, looks like I'll be doing my hinges in the future, any link to a DIY, would be much appreciated?

Also...
...you will most likely need an impact driver (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01M3VGVXO/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1505663431&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=ryobi+imp act+driver&dpPl=1&dpID=41aP9E%2B78oL&ref=plSrch) to get the T40 torx hinge screws out.
